HSEE 2018 BRIEF ANALYSIS HSEE-2019 – IIT Madras – was held on the 15th  of April in 2018. This write up is a basic HSEE- 2018 – Analysis. The exam is conducted for admission to the 5 year integrated MA program offered by IIT Madras. Only 2 percent of students who write the exam get admission to the program. The 2018 version of the exam was no surprise. HSEE- 2018 – Analysis: General overview

HSEE 2018 BRIEF ANALYSIS The computer based exam had two parts: part I contained the Aptitude test and Part II contained the written ability test. There were 144 questions carrying 144 marks in the first part and 1 essay writing task of 30 marks in the 2nd part. The first part had a  time limit of 2.5 hours and the 2nd part had a time limit of o.5 hours or 30 minutes. Overall the test was moderate in its level of toughness. Analytical and Quantitative Ability

This section too was moderate in the level of difficulty, with questions being asked from across the topics. Questions appeared in Number theory, trigonometry, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Ratio, Calendars , Coding and decoding etc.HSEE stands for Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination. General Studies 

The general studies paper had 4 parts. There were no surprises here.   The four parts were

Questions came from topics all around, theory of demand and supply, Poverty, growth and development, Census, history, forms of worship, Mughal history, Awards, Constitution, economic organisations, terrorism, Revolution,  politics, five year plans, environment, minerals, Soil erosion, forests and wetlands, atmosphere etc.

Candidates belonging to the general category and OBC category must secure a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination. Candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories must secure a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.

Overall Cutoff

The institute offers admission THROUGH a merit list of students  who score above 50 percent in the written test for the general category. For OBC candidates, the above percentage is 45 and for SC, ST and PwD categories the percentage is 25.
